In the book The City Of Ember The People Of Sparks by Jeanne DuPrau it tells how the people of Ember come up from there destroyed city and into the new world. A city called Sparks gives them a place to live until winter. The two towns have a growing hatred for each other. Lina goes to the city with two romars named Caspar and Maddie. They are going to the city in search of a treasure. When they get to the city Maddy knows that Caspar has gone crazy and takes Lina back to Sparks. On the way they run into a romar who takes them back to Sparks as long as they help him collect things to sell. Meanwhile in Sparks the people of Ember lead by Tick Hassler get madder and madder at the people of Sparks. When Lina gets back to Sparks a war was about to break out between the two towns. When Ben a town leader was trying to fire a weapon at the Emberties the weapon blows up and starts a fire. To stop the fire and to stop the town from burying the people of Ember jump into the fire lines to help stop the fire. This stops the war between the two cities and lets the people of Ember live in the city. While Lina was out on her trip she realizes that she has to go back to Ember. Will Lina go back to Ember with Doon?

In the book The City Of Ember The People Of Sparks by Jeanne DuPrau it tells how Lina and Doon lead the people of Ember up to the light and to a new world. The Emberties have come from their underground city that has died. To find a new place to live the Emberites traded for a few days trying to find a place to live with people. When they get within miles of the town of Sparks a boy named Torren sees them. He warns the town leaders and everyone drops everything and funs to see the new people. The town leaders decide to let the people of Ember stay, but only until winter. During the time that the Emberites are in Sparks at the beginning the people of Sparks start to get mad that with the Emberites in their town the food storage is getting depleted even when they were starting to prosper. Two romans come to Sparks and Lina gets intrigued with where they are going and what they are searching for. Will Lina go with the romans? Will Sparks fun out of food?
